Main Characters and Their Development

• Princess Aurora - the main character of the tale, known as the Sleeping Beauty. She is cursed by an evil fairy and falls asleep for a hundred years until awakened by a prince's kiss. At the beginning of the story, she is presented as an infant, then as a young girl, and finally as an adult woman when she awakens from her slumber.
• The King and Queen - Aurora's parents, who have long been unable to have children. They care for their daughter and try to protect her from the evil fairy's curse, but ultimately cannot prevent it.
• The Evil Fairy - the antagonist of the story, who curses Aurora, predicting that she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. However, her curse is softened by a good fairy, and instead of dying, Aurora falls asleep for a hundred years.
• The Good Fairy - one of the fairies invited to Aurora's christening. She softens the evil fairy's curse, altering it so that Aurora does not die but falls asleep for a hundred years until awakened by a kiss of true love.
• The Prince - the hero who finds Aurora after a hundred years and awakens her with a kiss. He symbolizes hope and love, capable of overcoming evil and curses.
