Main Characters and Their Development

• Mitya — the main character of the book, a boy who embarks on a magical river journey. Throughout the journey, he matures, learns to make decisions, and deals with challenges.
• Vodianoy — a kind river spirit who assists Mitya in his adventures. He is wise and benevolent, always ready to help.
• Baba Yaga — a traditional character from Russian tales, who in this book acts as Mitya's ally. She aids him with her magic and knowledge.
• Cat Matvey — a talking cat who accompanies Mitya on his journey. He is clever and resourceful, often helping Mitya out of tricky situations.
• Tsar Gorokh — the ruler of the magical kingdom who finds himself in trouble and needs the help of Mitya and his friends. Over the course of the story, he becomes a wiser and more just ruler.
