Brief Overview
In the book «Death with Interruptions», José Saramago tells the story of a country where the population suddenly stops dying. Initially perceived as a blessing, this leads to problems: overcrowded hospitals, economic difficulties, and social unrest. People begin to realize that death is necessary to maintain balance in the world. Soon, death returns but with new rules: it warns people a week before their demise. This results in unexpected consequences and forces society to rethink its attitude towards life and death. At the heart of the plot is a letter that death fails to deliver, leading to a personal encounter with the person it was addressed to and unexpected changes in her existence.
