Main Characters and Their Development

• Percy Jackson - the main character of the book, a twelve-year-old boy who discovers he is a demigod, the son of Poseidon. At the beginning of the book, Percy is unsure of himself and his abilities, but as the story progresses, he becomes more confident and determined. He learns to use his powers and embraces his destiny as a hero.
• Annabeth Chase - the daughter of Athena, a smart and strategic-thinking girl who becomes a friend and ally to Percy. She helps him in his adventures and shows her leadership qualities. Annabeth also develops as a character, becoming more open and trusting.
• Grover Underwood - a satyr and Percy's best friend, who accompanies him on his journeys. Grover dreams of becoming a seeker and finding the lost god Pan. Throughout the book, he demonstrates his loyalty and bravery, despite his fears and insecurities.
• Luke Castellan - the son of Hermes, who initially seems to be a friend and mentor to Percy but later turns out to be a traitor. Luke is disillusioned with the gods and their treatment of demigods, leading him to collaborate with Kronos. His betrayal becomes a significant turning point in the plot.
