Main Characters and Their Development

• Samuel Vimes - Captain of the Night Watch of Ankh-Morpork, who at the beginning of the book is in a state of depression and alcoholism, but as the story progresses, he gains self-confidence and becomes a true leader, capable of facing dangers and protecting the city.
• Carrot Ironfoundersson - A young and naive dwarf who is actually a human. He joins the Night Watch and, thanks to his honesty and straightforwardness, becomes an important part of the team, bringing a fresh perspective and enthusiasm.
• Sybil Ramkin - A noblewoman passionate about breeding dragons. She plays a significant role in Vimes's life, providing him support and becoming his love interest.
• Lord Vetinari - The Patrician of Ankh-Morpork, who manipulates events from behind the scenes. His character is revealed as a cunning and farsighted ruler, always one step ahead of his enemies.
• The Dragon - A creature summoned to the city through magic. Its appearance becomes the central event of the book, around which the main events and conflicts unfold.
