Main Characters and Their Development

• Klaus Heinrich — the main character, a prince of a small German principality. At the beginning of the book, he is portrayed as someone who accepts his role and duties with a sense of obligation but without much enthusiasm. As the story progresses, he meets Imma Spoelmann, an American heiress, and begins to change. Their relationship helps him realize his true desires and ambitions, and he becomes more confident and decisive.
• Imma Spoelmann — an American heiress, the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. She is intelligent, independent, and unafraid to express her thoughts.
