Main Characters and Their Development

• Cara Sargent — a young heroine whose life changes when she becomes host to an alien student. Cara embodies curiosity and inner strength; her character unfolds through her struggle between loyalty to her family, fear of the unknown, and a drive for justice. Over the course of the story, she overcomes prejudice, learns to see the world more broadly, and discovers her capacity for deep compassion and love.
• Aelyan — a member of the L’eihr race, a stranger among humans whose reserve and mystery hide a sensitive soul. His journey is one of seeking trust and acceptance; he learns to understand human emotions and discovers the power of friendship and tenderness. Aelyan gradually sheds his mask of detachment, allowing himself to be vulnerable and genuine.
• Cara’s family — her parents and brother, each of whom reacts differently to the arrival of the alien in their home. Their inner conflicts and fears form the backdrop for Cara’s coming of age, while their support and doubts are an important part of her development.
• Secondary characters — classmates, teachers, townspeople — embody various facets of human nature: from prejudice and fear to openness to change. Their attitudes toward Aelyan and Cara test the protagonists, forging their characters and helping them find their own voices.
