Main Characters and Their Development

• Klima - a famous trumpeter who comes to the small spa town to persuade nurse Ruzena to have an abortion. His character evolves from a frivolous and selfish musician to someone who becomes aware of the consequences of his actions.
• Ruzena - a nurse who claims to be pregnant by Klima. Her character undergoes internal conflicts and a struggle for her future, leading to tragic consequences.
• Camilla - Klima's wife, who suspects her husband of infidelity. Her character develops from a jealous and suspicious woman to someone ready for forgiveness and understanding.
• Bertlef - a wealthy American of Czech descent who comes to the town seeking spiritual enlightenment. His character symbolizes the search for life's meaning and inner peace.
• Skreta - a gynecologist who assists Ruzena and Klima. His character is a cynical and pragmatic doctor who manipulates people for his own purposes.
