Summary

The novel «Bag of Bones» tells the story of writer Mike Noonan, who experiences a creative block following the death of his wife, Jo. He decides to move to their summer home on Dark Score Lake, where he begins to encounter paranormal phenomena. Mike discovers that his wife had been conducting a secret investigation related to the house's history and its previous owners. Along the way, Mike meets a young widow, Mattie Devore, and her daughter, Kyra, who become targets of harassment by Mattie's wealthy and influential father-in-law. In his attempt to help them, Mike uncovers dark secrets of the past involving ghosts and injustice, and finds a way to free the souls trapped in the house.
