Summary
«The Strain» is the first novel in a trilogy written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The book begins with a plane landing at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, which suddenly goes silent on the runway. Everyone on board, except for four people, is dead. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, head of the Canary Project at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, begins investigating this strange incident. He soon discovers that it is not just a virus, but an ancient strain of vampirism that threatens to wipe out humanity. Together with a team that includes Professor Abraham Setrakian, a Holocaust survivor who knows more about vampires than anyone else, Ephraim must stop the spread of the infection and save the world from impending disaster.
