Main Characters and Their Development

• Santiago — a young Spanish shepherd who decides to follow his dream and sets out on a journey to find the treasure he dreamed of. Throughout his journey, he learns to listen to his heart, understand the language of the world, and realizes that true treasure lies not in material things but in spiritual growth and self-discovery.
• The Alchemist — a mysterious and wise man who aids Santiago on his path to the treasure. He teaches Santiago to understand signs, follow his path, and trust his instincts. The Alchemist symbolizes a spiritual mentor and guide who helps the protagonist unlock his potential and achieve his Personal Legend.
• Fatima — a young woman Santiago meets at an oasis and falls in love with. She becomes a symbol of love and loyalty, supporting Santiago in his quest to follow his dream. Fatima teaches Santiago that true love does not hinder one's path but rather inspires and supports it.
• Melchizedek — the King of Salem, who meets Santiago at the beginning of his journey. He gives him advice and guidance that help Santiago along his path. Melchizedek teaches Santiago the importance of following his Personal Legend and believing in his dreams.
• The Crystal Merchant — the owner of a shop where Santiago works for a time. He exemplifies someone who fears following his dreams and prefers to stay in his comfort zone. Through his interaction with the merchant, Santiago understands the importance of striving for his goals and overcoming the fear of the unknown.
