The Selection

Summary

The action of the book "The Selection" unfolds in the future, in the kingdom of Illéa, where society is divided into castes. The main character, America Singer, belongs to the fifth caste and lives in poverty. She doesn't want to participate in the Selection—a contest where 35 girls compete for Prince Maxon's heart and the chance to become queen. However, under family pressure and for financial support, she applies and unexpectedly finds herself among the chosen ones. During the contest, America gets to know Prince Maxon better and realizes he is not what she imagined. Feelings begin to develop between them, but America still can't forget her first love, Aspen, who also appears at court. The book explores the choice between duty and heart, as well as the struggle for personal happiness amidst fierce competition.
