Main Characters and Their Development
- Andrew Wiggin (Ender) - the main protagonist of the book, who is the Speaker for the Dead. He travels the universe to tell the truth about the lives of the deceased. In this book, he faces new moral and ethical challenges when he arrives on the planet Lusitania, home to the intelligent beings known as Pequeninos. - Pequeninos (Piggies) - intelligent beings living on Lusitania. Their culture and biology play a key role in the plot's development, and through interactions with them, Andrew and other characters learn to understand and accept differences between species.
- Valentine Wiggin - Andrew's sister, who also plays an important role in his life and supports him in difficult times.
