Main Characters and Their Development

• Grandfather Kokovanya - an old hunter who lives in the forest and knows many tales and legends. He is kind and caring, especially towards the girl Darenka, whom he takes under his wing. Throughout the story, he shares his knowledge with Darenka and teaches her to observe nature.
• Darenka - a little girl who has been orphaned and lives with Grandfather Kokovanya. She is curious and open-hearted, quickly becoming attached to her grandfather and his stories. Throughout the story, she learns to see the beauty in the world around her and to believe in miracles.
• The Silver Hoof - a mythical creature, a deer with a silver hoof, that appears in the forest and leaves behind tracks of precious stones. It symbolizes the magic and wonders of nature that reveal themselves to those who know how to look and believe.
