Main Characters and Their Development

• Alina Starkov: The main heroine of the book, an orphan and cartographer in Ravka's First Army. At the beginning of the story, Alina is unaware of her unique abilities but soon discovers she is a Grisha with the rare gift of a Sun Summoner.
