Main Characters and Their Development

• Elijah Baley - the protagonist, a detective from New York living in a future world where cities are enormous enclosed complexes known as the Caves of Steel. Baley is an experienced and insightful investigator who faces prejudice against robots but gradually learns to work with them. During the murder investigation, he develops as a character, overcoming his biases and fears.
• R. Daneel Olivaw - a robot android, Elijah Baley's partner in the investigation. He is created in the likeness of a human and possesses a high degree of intelligence and empathy. Daneel plays a key role in solving the case, demonstrating logic and humanity that help Baley change his attitude towards robots.
• Jessica Baley - Elijah Baley's wife, who supports him in difficult times. She represents a typical resident of the Caves of Steel, sharing common fears and prejudices against the outside world and robots, but also undergoes internal changes throughout the story.
• Julius Enderby - the police commissioner and Elijah Baley's superior. He is an old friend of Baley, but during the investigation, it is revealed that he has his own secrets and motives that influence the plot's development.
