Main Characters and Their Development

• Arthur (Wart): The main character of the book, a young boy who eventually becomes King Arthur. At the beginning of the story, he is known as Wart (a nickname for Arthur), and he lives in the castle with Sir Ector and his son Kay. Wart goes through many adventures and learns from the wizard Merlin, who helps him develop his skills and wisdom. During his education, he is transformed into various animals, which helps him understand the world and the people around him. At the end of the book, he pulls the sword from the stone and becomes the King of England.
• Merlin: The wizard and mentor to Wart. Merlin has the ability to live «backwards in time», allowing him to know the future. He teaches Wart various life lessons by transforming him into different animals and showing him different aspects of life. Merlin plays a key role in shaping the character and worldview of the future King Arthur.
• Kay: The son of Sir Ector and Wart's foster brother. At the beginning of the book, Kay is portrayed as arrogant and selfish, but as the story progresses, he becomes more mature and responsible. Despite his flaws, he remains a loyal brother to Wart and supports him.
• Sir Ector: Wart's foster father and Kay's father. Sir Ector is a kind and just knight who cares for his sons and the castle. He plays an important role in Wart's upbringing and supports him in difficult times.
• Archimedes: Merlin's owl, who assists Wart in his education. Archimedes possesses wisdom and a sarcastic sense of humor, often providing valuable advice and helping Wart in his adventures.
