Brief Overview

The novella «Family Happiness» by Leo Tolstoy tells the story of a young girl named Masha, who, after her mother's death, is left under the guardianship of a family friend, Sergey Mikhaylych. Gradually, love develops between them, and they marry. At the beginning of their marriage, Masha experiences happiness and contentment, but over time she begins to feel boredom and dissatisfaction. She becomes enamored with social life and society, leading to estrangement between the couple. Sergey Mikhaylych, noticing the changes in Masha, distances himself from her. Eventually, Masha realizes that true happiness lies in family life and love, and she returns to her husband, finding harmony and peace in their marriage.
