The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Buratino

Main Characters and Their Development

• Buratino - a wooden boy created from a log by Master Giuseppe and brought to life by Papa Carlo. At the beginning of the story, he is naive and carefree, but as the plot develops, he becomes braver, more resourceful, and responsible.
• Papa Carlo - a poor but kind and caring old man who creates Buratino and raises him. He is always ready to help his son and supports him in difficult moments.
• Malvina - a doll with blue hair who teaches Buratino good manners and helps him in his adventures. She is intelligent, kind, and fair.
• Pierrot - a poet doll in love with Malvina. He is melancholic and sensitive but is willing to perform feats for his friends and shows courage.
• Karabas Barabas - the evil and greedy owner of the puppet theater who seeks to obtain the golden key. He is the main antagonist of the story.
• The fox Alice and the cat Basilio - cunning and deceitful swindlers who trick Buratino and try to steal the golden key from him. They symbolize greed and deception.
• The turtle Tortilla - a wise and kind turtle who helps Buratino by giving him the golden key and revealing its significance.
