Main Characters and Their Development

• Noah Calhoun - the main character, a simple country boy who falls in love with Allie. He is devoted to his love and maintains his feelings for her throughout his life. Noah builds his dream house, hoping that one day Allie will return to him. In old age, he reads to her from a notebook to help her remember their love story as she suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
• Allie Nelson - the main heroine, a girl from a wealthy family who falls in love with Noah. Despite social differences and obstacles, she retains her feelings for him. Allie marries another man but returns to Noah years later. In old age, she suffers from Alzheimer's, and Noah reads to her from their love story to help her remember.
• Lon Hammond - Allie's fiancé, a successful lawyer. He loves Allie and is ready to marry her but realizes she still loves Noah. Ultimately, he lets her go so she can be with Noah.
• Anne Nelson - Allie's mother, who initially opposes their relationship due to Noah's social status. However, she later realizes that true love is more important than material wealth and supports her daughter's choice.
