Main Characters and Their Development

• Semyon Davydov - one of the main characters, the chairman of the collective farm. He is an energetic and determined person who strives to improve the lives of the peasants. Davydov faces many difficulties, but his resolve and belief in collectivization help him overcome obstacles.
• Makar Nagulnov - an active supporter of collectivization, a friend and ally of Davydov. He is passionate and sometimes impulsive but sincerely believes in the ideals of the revolution. His character evolves from a simple enthusiast to a more mature and conscious fighter for a new life.
• Lukerya Nagulnova - the wife of Makar Nagulnov, who supports her husband's aspirations. She embodies the image of a strong and selfless woman, ready to face hardships for the common good.
• Anna Pogudko - a young woman who initially views collectivization skeptically but gradually begins to understand and embrace the new ideas. Her development illustrates the journey from distrust to active participation in the life of the collective farm.
• Ivan Borodin - an old peasant who initially resists change but eventually begins to see its value. His journey symbolizes the transition from the old way of life to the new.
