Main Characters and Their Development
- King Lear - an aging monarch who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters based on their love for him. Realizing his mistake when his elder daughters Goneril and Regan reveal their cruelty, he loses his sanity from despair and deep emotional pain.
- Goneril - Lear's eldest daughter, cruel and ambitious, who deceives her father about her love to gain a larger share of his kingdom.
