Main Characters and Their Development

• Cyrano de Bergerac - the main character of the play, known for his wit, poetic talent, and extraordinarily long nose, which causes his insecurity. Cyrano is in love with his cousin Roxane but considers himself unworthy of her love due to his appearance. Throughout the play, he demonstrates nobility and self-sacrifice by helping Christian win Roxane's heart while remaining in the shadows. • Christian de Neuvillette - a young and handsome guardsman in love with Roxane. Lacking Cyrano's poetic talent and wit, he turns to Cyrano for help in expressing his feelings. Christian evolves from a self-assured youth relying on his appearance to someone who recognizes the importance of inner beauty and honesty.
• Count de Guiche - the antagonist of the play, an influential and ambitious man also in love with Roxane. Initially portrayed as cunning and selfish, he ultimately shows nobility and respect for Cyrano, acknowledging his virtues.
