Brief Overview

«Anthem» is a dystopian novel set in a future where individuality and personal rights are suppressed in favor of collectivism. The protagonist, known as «Equality 7-2521», lives in a society where the word «I» is forbidden, and all people exist only as part of the collective. He yearns for knowledge and discovers electricity, which brings him into conflict with the authorities. Ultimately, he escapes to the forest, where he finds freedom and realizes the significance of individuality, discovering the word «I». The novel explores themes of freedom, individualism, and the suppression of the self.
