Main Characters and Their Development

• Ligeia - a mysterious and beautiful woman with extraordinary willpower and deep knowledge. She is the narrator's first wife and leaves an indelible impression on his life. Ligeia dies, but her spirit and influence continue to haunt the narrator, especially after he remarries.
• The Narrator - an unnamed man deeply in love with Ligeia and obsessed with her image. After her death, he marries another woman, Rowena, but cannot forget Ligeia. His mental state deteriorates, and he witnesses strange and supernatural events.
• Rowena Trevanion - the narrator's second wife, who suffers from his obsession with Ligeia. She is described as physically weak and sickly, ultimately dying under mysterious circumstances.
