Independent Child, or How to Become a Lazy Mom

Implementation Notes

• Allow the child to be independent. Give them the opportunity to make decisions and learn from their mistakes, supporting them in this process.
• Create a safe environment for experimentation. Provide the child with a space where they can try new things without fear of punishment or judgment.
• Do not intervene unnecessarily. Give the child a chance to handle tasks on their own before offering help.
• Develop self-regulation skills. Help the child learn to manage their emotions and behavior through discussion and practice.
• Support initiative. Encourage the child to propose their ideas and solutions, even if they seem ineffective to you.
• Respect the child's personal space. Allow them to have their secrets and personal boundaries.
• Provide emotional support. Be there when the child needs comfort or advice, but do not impose your opinion.
• Teach the child to plan and organize their time. Help them create schedules and set goals.
• Encourage responsibility. Give the child tasks that require responsibility and trust them to complete them.
• Be a role model. Demonstrate through your behavior how you handle difficulties and make decisions.
