Main Characters and Their Development

• Shannon McFarland - a successful model whose life changes after she becomes the victim of an attack that leaves her face disfigured. During her recovery, she reevaluates her life and values, confronts betrayal, and finds a new identity.
• Brandy Alexander - a transgender woman who becomes Shannon's close friend. She helps Shannon deal with her trauma and find new meaning in life. Brandy also has a complex past and her own secrets that unfold throughout the story.
• Manus Kelley - Shannon's ex-boyfriend who is implicated in her attack. His betrayal becomes one of the catalysts for change in Shannon's life.
• Evie - Shannon's friend and colleague, who also plays an important role in her life after the attack. Her actions and motives turn out to be more complicated than they initially seem.
