The novel «Choke» tells the story of Victor Mancini, a former medical student who works at a historical park, portraying an 18th-century colonist. Victor earns money for his mother's treatment by pretending to choke in restaurants, eliciting sympathy from people who then send him money. The book explores themes of addiction, identity, and human nature with Palahniuk's characteristic dark humor and satire.
