Main Characters and Their Development

• Kya Clark - the main protagonist, known as the 'Marsh Girl'. She grows up in isolation in the marshes of North Carolina after her family leaves her. Kya learns to survive on her own, developing a deep connection with nature. She becomes a talented naturalist and artist, documenting the flora and fauna of the marshes.
