Main Characters and Their Development

• Vitya Maleev - the main character of the book, a fourth-grade student. At the beginning of the book, Vitya struggles with his studies, especially math. He decides to improve his grades and starts working diligently. In the process, he learns to overcome his weaknesses, becomes more responsible and determined. Vitya also shows friendliness and a willingness to help his friends.
• Kostya Shishkin - Vitya's best friend. Kostya is also a fourth-grade student and has his own academic challenges. He often finds himself in amusing situations and sometimes slacks off, but thanks to his friendship with Vitya, Kostya starts putting more effort into his studies and becomes more disciplined. Kostya supports Vitya in his endeavors, and together they overcome many difficulties.
• Teacher Maria Petrovna - the homeroom teacher of Vitya and Kostya. She is strict but fair. Maria Petrovna helps the boys understand the importance of education and discipline. Her support and guidance play a crucial role in the development of the main characters.
