Summary

'Cloud Atlas' is a novel composed of six stories set in different time periods and interconnected with each other. Each story is interrupted midway and continues in the next, except for the central sixth story, which is presented in full, after which the stories conclude in reverse order. The first story takes place in the 19th century during a voyage across the Pacific Ocean, the second in Belgium in 1931, the third in California in the 1970s, the fourth in modern-day Britain, the fifth in Korea in a distant future, and the sixth in a post-apocalyptic Hawaii. Each story touches on themes of power, violence, inspiration, freedom, and moral choices, weaving together a panoramic view of human history and the perspective of existence.
