Main Characters and Their Development

• Duncan (Dunk) - the main character of the book, a young and inexperienced but honest and noble knight. He strives to follow the code of honor and protect the weak. • Egg (Aegon Targaryen) - Dunk's squire, who is actually a prince from the Targaryen house. Egg is a smart and perceptive boy who learns from Dunk not only the art of knighthood but also human qualities such as kindness and justice. Throughout the narrative, he demonstrates his loyalty and willingness to learn, making him more mature and responsible.
• Lord Ashford - the organizer of the tournament where the events of the first novella unfold. He represents a typical Westerosi lord, concerned with his family and status.
• Prince Baelor Targaryen - a wise and noble prince who plays a crucial role in resolving the conflict at the tournament. His actions show that he is willing to sacrifice himself for justice and peace.
• Steffon Fossoway - a young knight who initially opposes Dunk but later becomes his friend and ally. His development shows how prejudice and hostility can give way to friendship and understanding.
