Out of the Silent Planet

Summary

In the book «Out of the Silent Planet», Professor of Philology Ransom is accidentally kidnapped and taken on a spaceship to the planet Malacandra (Mars). His captors, scientist Weston and his assistant Devine, plan to use him as a sacrifice for the local inhabitants. On Malacandra, Ransom escapes and encounters various intelligent beings, including the Hrossa, the Sorns, and the Pfifltriggi. He learns about the harmonious coexistence of these races and that the planet is governed by a spiritual being called Oyarsa. Ransom realizes that Earth, referred to as the «silent planet», is isolated due to its aggressive nature. Eventually, Ransom returns to Earth, having understood the importance of spiritual and moral development.
