Main Characters and Their Development

• The Demon — the main character of the poem, a fallen angel who experiences longing and loneliness. His image embodies eternal suffering and disappointment. At the beginning of the poem, he is filled with hatred for the world and people, but meeting Tamara awakens love and a desire for redemption in him. However, his nature does not allow him to change, and he brings about Tamara's demise, remaining in eternal torment.
• Tamara — the main heroine, a young and beautiful princess living in a monastery. She is pure and innocent, symbolizing light and goodness. Upon meeting the Demon, she feels love for him, but this love leads to her death. Tamara dies, but her soul ascends to heaven, where she finds peace and salvation.
