Summary

The novella «Olesya» by Alexander Kuprin tells the story of the love between a young educated man, Ivan Timofeyevich, and a reclusive girl named Olesya, who lives in a remote village in Polesia. Ivan Timofeyevich arrives in the village for work and accidentally meets Olesya, who lives with her grandmother, Manuilikha, and is considered a witch by the locals. A deep affection develops between Ivan and Olesya, but their love faces rejection and prejudice from the village society.
