Main Characters and Their Development

• Roland Deschain: The last gunslinger of an ancient line, seeking the Dark Tower. Initially portrayed as cold and ruthless, willing to sacrifice everything for his goal. As the story progresses, he begins to show more humanity and compassion, especially towards his companions.
• Eddie Dean: A former drug addict from New York, whom Roland pulls from his world. Eddie becomes a loyal friend and ally to Roland. His character evolves from a weak and dependent person to a strong and determined warrior.
• Susannah Dean (Odetta Holmes/Detta Walker): A woman with a split personality, also from New York. Initially, she struggles with her inner demons and personalities, but over time she integrates them and becomes a powerful and confident member of the ka-tet.
• Jake Chambers: A boy from New York who crosses paths with Roland multiple times. His development goes from a frightened child to a brave and devoted friend, willing to do anything for his comrades.
• Oy: A billy-bumbler, resembling a raccoon and a dog, who becomes a loyal companion to the ka-tet. Despite his appearance, he shows high intelligence and loyalty, especially to Jake.
• The Man in Black (Walter O'Dim): A mysterious and powerful antagonist who constantly opposes Roland. His motives and true nature remain unclear for much of the series, but he plays a key role in the quest for the Dark Tower.
