Main Characters and Their Development

• Danny Torrance: The main character of the book, who as a child survived the horrors at the Overlook Hotel. As he grows up, he struggles with alcoholism and finds work in a hospice, where he uses his abilities to help dying patients. His journey is one of redemption and finding inner peace.
• Abra Stone: A girl with powerful psychic abilities that surpass even Danny's. She becomes a target for the «True Knot» and, together with Danny, fights against them. Her development is a journey from an innocent child to a strong and confident individual.
• Rose O'Hara (Rose the Hat): The leader of the «True Knot», who feeds on the «shine» of children with psychic abilities. She is cruel and cunning, but ultimately meets her downfall. Her development shows how the thirst for power and immortality leads to ruin.
• Billy Freeman: A friend and ally of Danny, who helps him in the fight against the «True Knot». He is a loyal and reliable person who plays an important role in the final battle.
