Brief Overview

«The Turn of the Screw» is a gothic novella by Henry James, in which a young governess arrives at the remote Bly estate to care for two children, Miles and Flora. She soon begins to notice strange and frightening occurrences, including the ghosts of former valet Peter Quint and previous governess Miss Jessel. The governess becomes convinced that the ghosts are trying to possess the children's souls. She resolves to protect them but faces doubts about her own sanity.
