The Odyssey by Homer is an ancient Greek epic poem written in dactylic hexameter. This literary device gives the text a solemn and uplifting rhythm, making it memorable and impressive. The structure of the work is divided into 24 books, alternating between descriptions of Odysseus's adventures on his way home after the Trojan War and events occurring in his homeland of Ithaca in his absence.
