Children of Dune
Summary
«Children of Dune» is the third book in the Dune Chronicles series by American author Frank Herbert. The events of the novel unfold nine years after the events of the previous book, «Dune Messiah». The main characters are the children of Paul Atreides, also known as Muad'Dib: the twins Leto and Ghanima. As Paul's heirs, they face numerous challenges and conspiracies within the empire, as well as growing opposition among the Fremen and powerful forces in the universe. The central theme of the novel is the struggle for power and the dangers of absolute rule. Leto II follows a path different from his father's, aiming to avoid the tragic fate of the prophet and lead humanity to a new path of development, the concept of the Golden Path. The book raises questions of predestination, power, ethics, and the choice of personal destiny.
