Main Characters and Their Development

• James Bolivar diGriz (The Stainless Steel Rat) - the main character of the book, a master of the criminal world with a sharp mind and skills in disguise. At the beginning of the book, he engages in petty crimes, but later he is caught and offered a job with the government as an agent. In the process, he becomes more responsible and starts using his skills to fight crime.
• Inspector Inskipp - an agent of the Special Corps who initially pursues James but later becomes his ally. She is intelligent, determined, and possesses excellent analytical skills. Throughout the book, she develops both professionally and personally, learning to trust James and work with him as a team.
• Garcia - James's mentor in the Special Corps. He is an experienced agent who helps James adapt to his new role and teaches him the intricacies of working for the government. Garcia plays a crucial role in James's development as an agent.
