Summary
John Grisham's novel, «The Last Juror», tells the story of a young journalist, Willie Traynor, who becomes the owner of a newspaper in the small town of Clanton, Mississippi, in 1970. Shortly after, a brutal murder of a young widow occurs in the town, and Willie begins covering the trial of the accused—a member of the influential Padgitt family. Despite threats and pressure, Willie continues to publish articles exposing corruption and injustice in the legal system. At the heart of the plot is also the fate of a juror who played a key role in delivering the verdict. The novel explores themes of racism, bias, and the fight for justice in the southern United States.
