Summary

The novella "May Night, or the Drowned Maiden" by Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol tells the story of Levko, the son of a village headman, and his love for the beautiful Hanna. However, Levko's father opposes their union. One night, Levko encounters a drowned maiden, who turns out to be the daughter of a local landowner, having drowned due to unrequited love.
