Prepared by the Litseller editorial team. Our goal is to share concise, accurate, and valuable book summaries for personal growth and education.

Implementation Notes

  • Active Listening: It's important not just to listen to the child but to show them that they are heard and understood. Use phrases that reflect the child's feelings and experiences, such as: «You are upset because...», «It hurts you that...».
  • I-Statements: Instead of accusations and criticism, use statements that describe your feelings and experiences. For example: «I feel uncomfortable when...», «I feel...».
  • Empathy: Try to understand and accept the child's feelings, even if they seem insignificant or inappropriate to you. Show the child that their emotions are important and meaningful.
  • Respect for the Child's Personality: Recognize and respect your child's individuality and uniqueness. Do not compare them to other children or set unrealistic expectations.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Encourage and support the child's positive behavior. Praise them for specific actions and achievements, not for general qualities.
  • Setting Boundaries: Clearly and consistently establish rules and boundaries, explaining their necessity and the consequences of breaking them. Do this calmly and confidently, without aggression.
  • Joint Problem Solving: Involve the child in the process of solving problems and making decisions. Listen to their opinion and suggest finding a way out of difficult situations together.
  • Play and Creativity: Use games and creative activities to develop the child's emotional and social sphere. This helps to better understand their inner world and establish contact.
