In the process, he undergoes an internal transformation, realizing the value of true love and human connection.
• Delgadina - the young girl with whom the protagonist spends the night. She symbolizes youth, innocence, and hope. Although she does not speak a word throughout the book, her presence significantly impacts the protagonist, awakening feelings in him that he has never experienced.
