Light is Like Water
Brief Overview
In the story «Light is Like Water» by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the tale unfolds around two brothers, Toto and Joel, who live in Madrid. They ask their parents for a boat, despite living in an apartment. Their parents, eager to reward their academic achievements, buy them the boat. One day, left alone at home, the brothers break a light bulb, and light begins to flow like water. They fill the apartment with light and sail in their boat. Gradually, their adventures become more daring, and they invite friends over. Eventually, the light fills the entire house, and the children drown in it. The story serves as a metaphor for childhood imagination and boundless creativity, as well as a cautionary tale about the consequences of indulging desires too much.
