Main Characters and Their Development

• Prosper - Bo's older brother, who takes care of him after their mother's death. He is determined and willing to do anything to protect his younger brother. Throughout the book, he learns to trust others and accept help.
• Bo - Prosper's younger brother, a naive and trusting boy who loves adventure stories. His character develops from being completely dependent on his brother to becoming more independent.
• Scipio - The leader of the gang of child thieves, a charismatic and enigmatic character. At the beginning of the book, he seems confident and unshakeable, but as the story unfolds, his vulnerabilities and fears are revealed.
• Horn - A private detective hired to find Bo and Prosper. Initially, he seems to be an antagonist, but later his character is revealed to be more complex and sympathetic.
• Victor - A good-natured and somewhat clumsy detective who eventually becomes an ally to the children. His development involves transitioning from doing his job for money to genuinely wanting to help the children.
• Esther - Bo and Prosper's aunt, who wants to adopt Bo but not Prosper. Her character evolves from selfish desires to understanding and accepting family bonds.
