Main Characters and Their Development

• Camille Preaker - The main protagonist, a journalist who returns to her hometown to investigate the murders of two girls. Camille suffers from psychological trauma related to her past and has a habit of cutting herself. During the investigation, she confronts the ghosts of her past and tries to navigate her complex relationships with her mother and sister.
• Adora Crellin - Camille's mother, a domineering and cold woman who cares for her younger daughter, Amma, but neglects and disregards Camille. As the story unfolds, her dark secrets and true nature of her relationships with her daughters are revealed.
• Amma Crellin - Camille's younger sister, seemingly sweet and obedient, but in reality, manipulative and cruel. Her behavior becomes a key element in solving the murders.
• Richard Willis - A detective who assists Camille in the investigation. He develops a romantic relationship with Camille, but his true intentions and role in the investigation remain questionable.
• Alan Crellin - Camille's stepfather, who is completely submissive to Adora and does not interfere in family matters. His passivity and indifference to the family's issues perplex and irritate Camille.
