• Dexter Green - the protagonist, a young man from the middle class who strives for wealth and success. He works towards achieving his «winter dreams», which include a luxurious lifestyle and winning the love of Judy Jones. Dexter is ambitious and determined but ultimately faces disappointment when he realizes his dreams were illusory.
• Judy Jones - a beautiful and charming girl, the object of Dexter's affection. She is capricious and fickle, often changing her admirers. Judy symbolizes the ideal Dexter aspires to, but ultimately she proves to be unattainable and ephemeral, leading to his disappointment.
