Main Characters and Their Development

  • Ted — the protagonist and narrator. He is the only one in the group who retains some semblance of sanity and humanity. Ted constantly battles paranoia and fear, but ultimately takes a desperate step to end his companions' suffering.
  • Ellen — the only woman in the group. She is caring and compassionate, often comforting the others. Ellen is also the object of desire for the men in the group, which causes tension and conflict.
